OVI Pocket Guide
Understand your rights before compliance becomes evidence
What the law requires:
— Pull over safely
— Provide license, registration, and insurance
— Comply with police orders
Your available options during a stop:
— Say: “I choose not to answer questions"
— Ask: “Is that an order or request?"
— Decline all field sobriety tests
— Refuse consent to searches
— If arrested, say: "I am invoking my right to
remain silent. I want my attorney."
— Stay silent to protect your invocation
— Refuse breath, urine, and blood tests, though
refusing may have consequences
— Don't argue. Let Harmony Law handle it later.
