When Does a Living Will Take Effect in Ohio?
An Ohio living will generally becomes operative only after your attending physician and another examining physician determine that you are in a terminal condition or permanently unconscious state, your attending physician determines that you can no longer make informed decisions about life-sustaining treatment and have no reasonable possibility of regaining that capacity, and your living will has been communicated to your attending physician.

What Is a Living Will in Ohio?
A living will in Ohio is a legal document that communicates your wishes about life-sustaining medical treatment if you become terminally ill or permanently unconscious and can no longer make informed decisions about that treatment. It allows you to provide instructions in advance so your physicians and loved ones know how you want certain end-of-life medical decisions handled.
